A "Mary Phagan" home for working girls is suggested in a letter received Saturday morning by The Journal from one of its subscribers in Covington, Ga. The idea grew out of the agitation for the erection of a monument in memory of the little factory girl.

"Instead of an immense marble shaft," wrote the subscriber, "I would suggest a neat memorial at her grave and a home in Atlanta where working girls can board for a reasonable rate. This also would serve as a retreat for those out of work. I would have all conveniences for their comfort and a night school for those desiring instruction. In the vestibule I would have a life-sized statue or portrait of Mary Phagan."

Prominently for Fulton Co.

Criminal Court Judgeship

Governor Slaton is expected to announce the appointment of the new Fulton superior court judge sometime next week. This judgeship was created by the last legislature and the new judge will preside over the criminal branch of the superior court.

For several years Judge L. S. Roan, of the Stone Mountain circuit, has under a special act of the legislature, presided over this court, but the business has grown until it became necessary to have a judge to give his entire time to Fulton County criminal cases.

Judge Roan and several other well-known Atlanta lawyers have been mentioned for the place. In the event Judge Roan is appointed the governor will have to appoint his successor on the Stone Mountain circuit.
